I am researching for a non-fiction book about people who have left their previous careers behind to make a real impact—often in areas where hardly anyone else is willing to get involved.
Working title: Making an impact where no one else is. A treasure trove for mid-life new starters.
I am collecting concise, practical portraits of people who have moved from “everyday career life” to visible, measurable impact – in fields such as climate protection and adaptation, health, strengthening democracy, animal welfare, loneliness, and other important issues.
The book combines personal stories with scientific findings. At best, this will create a framework that brings together values and strengths with neglected problems and impact – supplemented by exercises that readers can apply.
I am influenced by Rutger Bregman’s concern to live moral ambition in a concrete way. In the Moral Ambition Community, I have seen how much people flourish when they clarify their mission: Where do my skills intersect with a neglected, solvable, and important problem?
Many people are ready for a new, meaningful chapter in their life story—but they often lack a practical guide: What are my values and strengths, how do I overcome my fears and saboteurs, how do I find “my theme,” finance the transition, build alliances, and make an impact without burning out? This book aims to provide exactly that: inspiration + insights + encouragement.
